This is an ever-growing list of upcoming kaijū films from across the world being produced, oddly enough we couldn’t find a comprehensive list anywhere else online.   • Spire: The Poisonous Bug

    A fantasy, supernatural, romantic special effects movie based on the legend of a giant insect monster that is passed down at Ningyo Pass.

    The film is being made in episodes that will be cut into a feature film.

    On the day of her father's cremation, a young girl named Miku goes around Bunkyo Ward with a part-time job wearing a costume called Kattan. However, what was inside Kattan was actually an ancient person from the continent of Mu. Kattan senses that the fierce beast Typhoon, who once destroyed the Mu clan, is about to awaken from its seal, and begs Miku to become Valid man, a warrior who will fight against Typhoon. As she lives her university life with Kattan's fellow monsters, they are defeated one by one by the enemy. The two rise up to stop them! The fierce beast is about to be revived!! Kattan grows giant in an attempt to avenge his sister's death, and engages in a huge battle with the fierce beast Typhoon! However, the giant Kattan is too strong and goes down. A close call! -- Miku receives a miraculous power and transforms! Become the giant hero Valid man and begin the final battle!

  • Abu: The Giant

    A monster appears in a dam near the city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The monster, Abu, is Zaara’s “pet.” A pet that mutated due to chemical pollution. Zaara and Sofian join forces to save Abu from being eliminated by Lt. Fayyad Noah, who is assigned by the National Security Council to kill the monster. Will Abu be saved? 

  • Ayura

    The Ayu sweetfish, a breed common in the waters of Japan, is mutated into a giant monster with many tails. The beast “Ayura” attacks Gifu prefecture, destroying buildings and forcing the populace to run for their lives.
    Kaoru, a young government employee, is bewildered by this bizarre and terrifying situation. But her senior, Nanami, tells her, “You have a real job to do."

    What can Kaoru and the people of Gifu Prefecture do to stand up against Ayura? And what role will the cormorant-type weapon “Mekau” play?*

    Fall clouds take turns hiding the moon. The night air is crisp. Faint, distorted sounds of fun and excitement drift on the breeze from the carnival below. Other than that, all is quiet—too quiet.

    Something moves across the ground. Hank hops down to have a look about. It’s the wind, moving the grass. He turns and shrugs to his buddy who nods in return. Claws quickly emerge from the darkness and grab the farmer, ripping him clear from his seat on the heavy, steel machine. Hank shouts and shoulders his axe as his friend is carried away by “the What”.

  • The Beast Beneath Lake Bullare

    In 1746 a local priest wrote down a description of an ancient sea creature living deep in Lake Bullaren in Bohuslan, Sweden. People claimed to have seen it during times of war, plague, and times of suffering. There were stories of a nearly 15 foot long fish-like creature prowling in the shallows near Smeviken. Some claimed to nearly have caught the beast but there is not evidence of anyone succeeding. Now in 2020 it's time for a new attempt to capture the legendary beast.

  • Omukade

    Omukade is a haunting prequel to the internationally celebrated Thai horror film The One Hundred, set during World War II when Japan occupied Thailand.

    The story unfolds in a cursed mine, where Japanese soldiers and their captives find themselves trapped. As tensions between enemies reach a breaking point, they are forced to confront a terrifying, ancient monster lurking in the shadows.

    In the face of this unimaginable horror, the lines between friend and foe blur. Former enemies must set aside their differences and unite to survive. Omukade is not only a gripping tale of supernatural terror but also a powerful anti-war statement, showcasing how humanity’s greatest struggles often lie not in fighting one another, but in overcoming the darkness that threatens us all.

  • Untitled 2025 Ultraman Event Movie

    Leaked in a Tsuburaya Productions sharholders presentation, it is likely the planned sequel to “Shin Ultraman.” Some have thrown the idea of “Shin Ultraseven” around. It is possible that this film is cancelled.

  • Yoshikazu Ishii's Gladio Movie

    CONFIRMED

    [Post-Production, Late 2025, Team Better Tomorrow, Japan]

    The director is Yoshikazu Ishii, director of Ultraman Ginga. Crowdfunding is being carried out on the linked site. Giant monsters/Movies/Analog special effects/Monster suits/Miniature special effects

  • Kraken

    CONFIRMED

    [Post-Production, Late 2025, Nordisk Film Production, Norway]

    The kraken is a legendary monster born from the stories of sailors, and said to appear in the sea between Norway and Iceland.

    The film was picked up by Samuel Goldwyn Films and is planned for a North American release.

  • Troll 2

    CONFIRMED

    [Post-Production, December 1st, 2025, Netflix, Norway]

    Troll 2 reteams Uthaug (“Tomb Raider”) with writer Espen Aukan and producers Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud at Motion Blur, the Oslo-based banner whose credits include “Cadaver,” “Amundsen” and “The 12th Man.

  • Kaiju: Island of Fire

    A combined military task force travels to an ancient Japanese Island, searching for the missing members of a construction team, currently in the process of building a new military base.

  • Untitled 2026 Ultraman Omega Movie

    UNCONFIRMED

    [Development, UNKNOWN 2026 RELEASE DATE, Tsuburaya Productions, Japan]

    Announced at Tsuburaya Convention in 2022, a series is planned for 2025-2026, this film will likely be the finale to the series Ultraman Omega.

  • No.1 Sentai Gozyuger Movie

    No official announcements have been made, but the film will likely serve as the finale to the No.1 Sentai Gozyuger series.

  • Daikaiju Bugon 2

    [Production, 2026, Beppu Short Movie Project, Japan]

    Announced at G-Fest 2024, Kiyotaka Taguchi is planning on producing a sequel to the first “Daikaiju Bugon.”

    At G-Fest 2025, Taguchi stated he was excited to bring Daikaiju Bugon 2 to G-Fest 31.

  • Kaiju Heaven

    Directed by Minoru Kawasaki, Akio Jissoji once wrote in an essay that he liked MARMIT's original monster, Mamitra, and asked me to make a movie about it. The director loved monster stuff, and had once planned a festival-like plan for "Ultra Seven" called "15 Aliens + 35 Monsters" in which all monsters would appear, but it was rejected. I'll just make it happen! That's what this crazy man thought.

    In addition to Marmit's Mamitler, the game will feature a variety of eccentric monsters, including the mythical 70s monster "Terrain Cognita" and new monsters designed by artist "GYAROMI," creating a "monster paradise.” The lead role will be played by Tomoya Warabino from "Ultraman Blazer." Other great cast members include Shinsuke Minami II, the successor to the late Shinsuke Minami, who created "Terrain Cognita."

  • Godzilla: Minus One Sequel

    Takashi Yamazaki is returning as writer, director, and FX Supervisor on an all-new Godzilla movie!

    Filming has commenced in Japan.

  • Kaiju Decode

    Originally an animated short co-produced, hope has been made to turn it into a movie version, no current details are know about the proposed project.

  • Untitled Chinese/SEA Ultraman Movies

    Leaked in a Tsuburaya Productions sharholders presentation, it is unknown the current state of this project or the various other projects that were planned for the SEA markets.

  • Titan

    Against the backdrop of Brazil’s Curuçá River in the present day. When a team of young doctors embark on a local humanitarian mission through the Amazon rainforest, it soon becomes clear that not everyone – or everything – is happy to see them. Their arrival draws the attention of an ancient predator, the Boiúna.

  • Cloverfield 2.4

    Announced Babak Anvari will be directing with Joe Barton writing, and J.J. Abrams/Hannah Minghella producing, no details are known outside of the film being a direct sequel to the first “Cloverfield” but in third person point-of-view.

  • Taniwha

  • War of the Ninja Monsters: Jaron vs. Goura Sequel

    The script for the film is completed and the film is set to be a sequel to “War of the Ninja Monsters: Jaron vs. Goura.”

  • Sea Beast Sequel

    It will bring back monster hunter Jacob Holland and his now adopted daughter, Maisie Brumble. And there is an original fantasy where Williams hopes to use his world-building chops to tell a story both big and small, in the tradition of “The Lord of the Rings” but with the attitude of “The Princess Bride.”

  • Them! Remake

    “Them!” was a film in the 1950s about giant ants. It was sort of discussing the oncoming nuclear age that we found ourselves in and were woefully unprepared for as human beings, and so I thought there’s so much going on in the world – that was clearly a lesson that we didn’t learn as humans – and it feels like it’s a story that could be told again today with a lot of the shit that’s going on in the world. ~ Michael Giacchino

  • Attack of the 50 Foot Women Remake

    Fresh off directing “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” which is headed to theaters in September, Deadline reports that Tim Burton is attached to direct a new take on “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman.”

    Tim Burton is producing “Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman” for Warner Bros. with Andrew Mittman and Tommy Harper. Kai Dolbashian is on board as an Executive Producer.

  • Jellyfish Eyes 2: Maha Shankh

    [Post-Production, Kaikai Kiki Co., Ltd, Japan]

    Serving as a sequel to “Jellyfish Eyes” (2013), the film was initially cancelled by director Takashi Murakami in 2020, on February 10th, 2022, he announced that they would be starting up on production again.

  • Untitled 2027 Ultraman Movie

    Announced at Tsuburaya Convention in 2022, a series is planned for 2026-2027, this film will likely be the finale to the show.

  • Godzilla x Kong: Supernova

    [Production, March 26th, 2027, Legendary Pictures/Warner Brothers, USA]

    Directed by Grant Sputore and written by Dave Callaham, the film will be a direct sequel to the 2024 film “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.”

    The film is currently shooting in America.

  • The Meg 3

    On March 14th, 2024, it was announced as a Chinese production from Chinese Pictures with no word if Warner Brothers was slated to return. It was beginning early development with hopes to interest an international audience.

  • The Kaiju Score

    Brian and Mark Gunn are set to adapt the screenplay for Sony Pictures and Escape Artists‘ The Kaiju Score based on the AfterShock Comics’ series by James Patrick and artist Rem Broo. The feature’s plot is being kept under wraps.

  • Godzilla vs. The Legendary Wolfman

    A werewolf appears in Japan, which becomes irradiated and grows to daikaiju size. This giant Wolfman encounters Godzilla in the countryside and the two monsters battle. Godzilla is portrayed as a rampaging monster like in the early Showa series, but the lesser of two evils compared to the Wolfman.

  • Rampage 2

    It was revealed that Warner Brothers is actively looking to produce a sequel to the 2018 video game movie adaptation of Rampage but Dwayne Johnson declined to start production on the film until he worked on a few new “fresh” projects.

  • Leio: The Terrible Giant

    A proof-of-concept trailer was released. Ruairi Robinson is directing and Jim Uhis is writing with Simon Kinberg and Neill Blomkamp producing.

    By the early 22nd century mankind had colonized many worlds. Faster than light travel was made possible by harvesting exotic matter from the eggs of the largest species mankind has ever seen. Those that take part in the hunt are mostly involuntary labor.

    Announced on January 17th, 2017, with David Heyman producing. Proposed as a two-film project. The film would be a remake of the Shinji Higuchi duology. It was announced that Andy Muschietti would direct with Barbara Muschietti also producing. The director left in late 2023.

    Humans living behind a wall through generations to keep themselves safe from the alien Titans. However, curious as to what is beyond the wall, they form a scouting mission. It is not long before they find themselves battling the Titans as they try to save humanity once again.

    This film is likely not going to happen.

  • Ultraman Fallen

    Shannon Tindle stated on Twitter he’d like to do a sequel to “Ultraman Rising” but he wouldn’t know until after the first film was released. Following the hint of a meeting and then suggesting it didn’t go well, Shannon announced on June 19th, 2024 that his last day with Netflix would be the 20th of June.

    Ultraman: Fallen would begin with Emiko Sato, who is revealed to be the founder of the first film's villainous organization, the Kaiju Defense League. Since being marooned on Ultraman's home planet, the sequel would potentially see Emiko return home, fleeing an all-new threat that Ultraman will have to face.

  • Gorgo Animated Movie

    When getting te Gorgo license for merchandising, Mac McClintock mentioned plans to make an animated Gorgo film. No updates have occurred since then.

  • Reiwa Gamera Movie

    [Announced, UNKNOWN RELEASE DATE, Kadokawa Pictures, Japan]

    During the press for “Gamera: Rebirth,” it was revealed that if the show did well, Kadokawa was ready to start development on various gamera projects including a Gamera movie. Shusuke Kaneko was interested in returning to direct the film. However, “Gamera: Rebirth” failed on Netflix and likely has resulted in the IP being put on the backburner yet again.

  • The Host American Remake

    [Announced, UNKNOWN RELEASE DATE, Universal Pictures, USA]

    A remake of the 2006 South Korean film “The Host,” the proposed remake has Fredrik Bond is set to direct, with Mark Poirier writing the script, and Gore Verbinski producing.

    This film is likely not happening.

  • Shin Godzilla Sequel

    [Announced, UNKNOWN RELEASE DATE, Toho Co., Ltd, Japan]

    In an article by Bloomberg it was mentioned by Koji Ueda, president of Toho International that a sequel to Shin Godzilla was potentially happening.

    It is unknown what this project would look like, but we know that toho rejected the pitch provided by Anno and he commented that he would not return to direct a sequel if it did happen.
